JoJo Boswell, born 09/01/1985, was last seen on 07/11/2005 after being released from Steele County Jail in Owatonna, MN. She was not originally from the area. She was from the cities about one and a half hours north. After being released from jail, a deputy drove her to the local Kwik Trip convenience store, but other reports have said she was later seen walking towards the Fleet farm when an unidentified individual walked up to her, and they started talking. The pair then walked away together and JoJo has not been seen since. Other than that, very few details are known. It is unclear why she was arrested, what her potential charges were, or if she seemed distressed when speaking to the stranger near Fleet Farm. This case happened nearly 20 years ago, and despite Owatanna being a small town, there are no clear answers. Someone knows something. I find it hard to believe in a midwestern town of 26,000, nobody knew the stranger she was seen talking to or knew where JoJo went.
If alive, JoJo would be 38. She has a mole on the left side of her face, as well as light freckles. She had a scar on the right side of her face, as well as an 8 inch scar (potentially with staple marks) on her right arm, indicating she may have had surgery at some point. She was somewhere between 5'5-5'10 and weighed 130-140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black skirt.
This case has bothered me for some time. It is clear from the insane lack of coverage that her disappearance was not taken very seriously. Unfortunately, this is all too common for MMIW. Like I said, Owatanna is small, and someone knows SOMETHING. I want to believe that she is living, but that seems unlikely. Hopefully, some remains will show up eventually.
