The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)


Circumstances of Recovery: Two bony fragments. These were received by our office on 5/26/1994. One is composed of a human femur, left side, measuring 45.1 cm from superior aspect of the bony head to the distal aspect of the specimen. Also submitted is a fragment of long bone measuring 35 cm in length. Remains were found in a local cemetery on the ground surface. No opened/disturbed graves nearby.

Escambia County FL borders MS, and is subject to flooding. May is barely the beginning of hurricane season. It would not be surprising if these bones were misplaced from a flood. Maybe not the nearby cemetery but a family grave site from years ago. Dating the bones and DNA will be likely.
