A monkey called Zeek that escaped from its owner in Florida sat on a mailbox eating someone's letters until Stanford police arrived. Then she ran towards the police car, jumped on it and damaged it and refused to be coaxed back home for the next 20 minutes.

Police say all ended well and locals and the owner helped get Zeek back home. They didn't mention who's going to pay for the damage to the police vehicle but said it was a lighthearted incident compared to some of the crimes they regularly get called out to.

Short video at link of Zeek.

That looks like a young baboon. Although adult baboons are very strong and fierce fighters they are, if I'm not mistaken, one of the least aggressive genus of monkeys toward humans. They are sometimes classified as apes instead. If this had been a chimpanzee, it would have taken a greater effort to subdue it and the incident could have ended very tragically with people encouraged to coax it. Are monkeys, or apes, allowed as pets in FL?
