RSBM. I think Nancy was the target. They accomplished 'get Nancy' mission, and that seems bizarre to us now, but I think some group intended to be part of this media circus, and I hope we get the answers as to why they allowed this to be characterized as 'burglary gone bad' rather than stand up and say 'we did this' to further their cause.
This is an interesting theory. I can't figure out who would want NG to "further their cause" but if it's a political thing, we'll just have to wait until it hits the news.

As a note, a lot of thumbnails are badly compressed which results in terrible pixilation if you try and blow them up at all. It part of why I think this is a thumbnail and not a capture.

There was a list of Arabic names but it was deemed to be unrelated. It piqued my interest as it would have fed into my "what if this is bigger than Nancy & Savannah" theory. Two weeks after 911, the FBI had tied 911 to Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden. No one, to our knowledge, has claimed this is their handiwork. So, this theory breaks down because no one is claiming it. So if not political, then ransom but the abductee died unexpectedly? or maybe it was just to make the Guthrie family suffer? well, that's been accomplished. :(

But, maybe someone has claimed responsibility. We don’t really know what was left at the scene, or what’s in the ransom notes. I still think there’s a big possibility they identify themselves and list their demands - doubtful they’ve been met. But they may be some hacker group (or otherwise elusive).
Speculating only.

Long time lurker here for decades, finally getting the nerve/courage to post. I have always thought the Lantana Man/Porch Guy video is 2:12am. Here’s what I think happened:

1:47am - Perp(s) approach house and cut either internet or power in some way. It COULD be a jammer sure. But it could also simply be cutting the internet line into the house on the outside (my house has this and many do - they’re very easy to cut from the side at ground level), pulling what they thought was the modem inside (but was just a router), pulling the wrong Ethernet cord, smashing or clipping the camera wires, or turning off a circuit breaker. It’s my understanding the circuit breaker is outside on some homes there.

So he flips the breaker and the cameras in back go out because he has disconnected the router by doing that or they are hard wired. Busts the lights or a light he thinks is motion activated/security system activated. That’s 1:47am. Waits and enters.

2:12am - they’re going to take her out the front. Perp approaches and is a little surprised to find camera is on. Signals to accomplice this. They didn’t realize camera is battery. It may or may not be hooked up at this point to wifi but records person detected. There may be a second router inside that wasn’t disconnected by their actions at the breaker who knows? The camera is torn down and taken because they smash it to make sure the SD card is gone but there’s no SD. It uploads just that brief bit and Nancy’s phone gets this alert but it’s too late - the attack is already underway and has been for 30+ minutes.

sbm

minor, circumstantial point, but one would think an automatic daily retrieval would be set to a nice, round number like 2:30, not a random one like 2:28

obviously not a hard rule though. plus, clocks might not be totally synced, etc.
We have a system that does an automated retrieval at 1:06. I am not sure how the times are selected on an individual account basis, but the times are probably assigned so the receiving system is not overwhelmed by file traffic.

ooh, really good point. staggering to reduce peak traffic is absolutely a known practice in some technologies.

ok, can't assume it would have been at a nice, round time.
