fellow sleuthers who can't get registered

I registered here to post about the "Missing in WV" cold case. I had a tough time getting registered and was told that I did not meet the requirements or something to that effect. I do not (and didn't at the time) have an aol or ineligible e-mail address. The contact page bounced my e-mails back to me as well. I contacted an administrator and was able to get registered through that means.

However, there are others out there who can't get registered either. It's a shame to have several people out there wanting to contribute info about this case and possibly others and they can't get registered.

Any ideas or hopes for correcting this? What do they need to do?

I know. I kept trying to register with multiple e-mail addresses because I kept getting an e-mail that said I didn't meet requirements. First I tried Yahoo and it said it didn't accept Yahoo, then I tried AOL and it said that the administrator deleted my membership. I don't understand what is wrong with AOL. It's not free--it cost almost $25.00 a month! So, why can't certain users register just because they don't have or cannot afford a certain e-mail address? I know some people that only use Yahoo or Hotmail or other free e-mails because they don't have Internet access at home so they have to go to a library or check their free e-mail at work. Then, I repeatedly tried my University e-mail account and kept getting rejected about 4 times until somehow I was accepted. But when I
e-mailed the site, I either never got a response from anyone as to why it rejected me or the e-mails kept bouncing back to me as undeliverable. So, now I have no idea what I will do when I leave my university since I will not have that e-mail address forever unless I can get alumni e-mail.

The email to Websleuths is still not working. If I see someone having a hard time registering I will email and let them know about IP based email addys.

Anthrobones I registered you with your university email addy and when the time comes and you need to change it just pm one of the mods, we'll take care of it.

In the past we have had alot of problems with AOL IP'S. People registering multiple hats, sites and folks spamming the forum etc. That is why we deny AOL registrants periodically. Chico has a regular email that she registered with. She chooses to use the Hotmail addy as her public email on WS as Moderators tend to get spammed once in a while.
