Alfred Griffiths took a break from his job for a smoke on a bench outside the Del Prado Boulevard retailer. He would never return to his job.

Just before 9 p.m. he was fatally gunned down, shot in the head, with the shooter fleeing the scene immediately.

Cold Case Homicide Unit

State Attorney Amira Fox and Cape Coral Police Chief Dave Newlan ask the public to take a renewed look at an unsolved homicide.

Today marks the 6th year anniversary of the murder of Alfred Griffiths in Cape Coral. Mr. Griffiths, 54, was the manager of the T.J. Maxx store on Del Prado Boulevard. He was gunned down just before 9 p.m. on November 18, 2014, as he was sitting on a bench in front of the store. He was shot in the head and the unknown shooter fled the scene.

The Cape Coral Police Department has dedicated themselves to this case and the State Attorney’s Office Cold Case Homicide Unit, is assisting them with the investigation, to find the person responsible for this heinous crime.

In an effort to generate more tips for this unsolved murder and other unsolved crimes, today State Attorney Fox announces the State Attorney’s Office Cold Case Homicide Unit Tip Line. Anyone with information on an unsolved case can call the number at:
1-833-987-2611. All callers are anonymous unless they choose to provide their information for contact.

“The new tip line is an important resource in our continuous effort to solve cold cases. The State Attorney’s Office Cold Case Homicide Unit is comprised of experienced homicide investigators and prosecutors. They have solved and prosecuted numerous homicides. The State Attorney’s Office homicide investigators receiving information from the tip line are experienced in evaluating any and all leads that may assist in resolving cases alongside our law enforcement partners,” said State Attorney Fox.

There is currently $28,000 in reward money from Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers available for information leading to an arrest.

Information Sought In Cape Homicide at TJ Maxx

CAPE CORAL,FL. - Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help identifying and tracking down the man who gunned down the manager Of the TJ Maxx department store Tuesday night.

Alfred Griffiths was outside the Del Prado Boulevard store on Tuesday, November 18th when an unknown male fatally shot the store manager. While numerous shoppers and patrons of adjacent businesses heard the gunshots, no one was able to identify the gunman, and detectives are still searching for the man who pulled the trigger.

"This horrific random act of violence occurred in a busy area, and we're hoping someone may have seen the shooter in the area either right before the murder, or even in the hours leading up to the assault," said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. "Mr. Griffiths has a family who is struggling to understand why or how this could have happened, and they absolutely deserve to see justice for their loved one."

Griffiths was unmarried, with no children, however he took care of his elderly mother. He also leaves behind two sisters and extended family.

More than 60 tips have come in to Cape PD, and another dozen or so to Crime Stoppers since releasing a picture of Griffiths.

Anyone with information on the man who killed Griffiths is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
