The group Equu-Search begins arriving tonight to help Lee County Deputies search for missing teacher Amy Patterson on Pine Island

:( Hope they find something!

I hope so too. I love Pine Island and plan to move to the southern point, St. James City, within a year or so. Such a beautiful place and lots of open land to search. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

New details in Amy Patterson's disappearance

It has been one year since Mariner Middle School teacher Amy Patterson disappeared. Her case made national news when her ex-husband, a suspect in her disappearance, went on the run. On the anniversary, Lee County deputies are releasing new information in the investigation.

They say Proctor left behind a telling note.

"A note that alluded to being involved in Amy's disappearance or death," said Detective Jeff Brown of the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Proctor sold all of Amy's belongings on Craigslist after allegedly killing Amy, then dumping her body.

"I do not believe that he left the area with her. I believe that she is somewhere very close to the Pine Island, North Fort Myers area," said Brown.

:rose: Amy :rose:

This is such a sad case. I feel for her family, but I am glad that he grew a small bit of conscience and confessed. So many of these $%&@# do not! Two in a month (Mickey) - it might be a record!

This rips my heart out!!! :anguish:

A grieving Ladonna Salehi said this morning that the finality of the news has been difficult to bear. Last week, Salehi said she just wanted to know what happened to her daughter so they could bury her.

"It's even worse, because now you know how she was killed," Salehi said. "I hoped she was still alive."

The Lee County School District is “deeply saddened” by loss of Patterson, a science teacher at Mariner Middle School, according to a release sent out by the district.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed today a body found in Bokeelia Tuesday night was in fact that of the 41-year-old, who had been missing since August 2011.

“While only with the district for a short time, Ms. Patterson proved to be a dedicated professional and her love of science and teaching was evident from the first day,” the statement said. “She was the kind of person you look for when hiring a new teacher, and she will be missed by the Mariner Middle School family.

Rest in Peace...

RIP Amy. Prayers of peace and closure for her family.

So sad that woman ever tolerate inappropriate behavior from their partners. If women would just walk away at the very first hint of violent behavior, verbal or physical, these situations could often be avoided.

The ex-husband turned boyfriend of a woman whose murdered body was found in Bokelia in 2012 pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Wednesday. Daniel Proctor was the prime suspect from the beginning in the case, after Amy Patterson, 41 vanished in July of 2011.

This week's hearing was much longer than most change of plea hearings, and the details of the plea deal are very specific. The judge is not making a final decision on sentencing until she hears from Patterson's family members.

The plea deal calls for Proctor's sentence to be 25 years, though the judge could choose to sentence him to more time than that in prison. Another hearing is scheduled in two weeks.

A man who pleaded guilty to killing a southwest Florida middle school teacher has been sentenced to 25 years in prison...

Proctor faced life in prison before pleading guilty to a murder charge in Patterson's death. Proctor also is serving two life sentences in Alabama for grand theft.

At Proctor's sentencing hearing Monday in Fort Myers, Patterson's brother asked the judge not to accept Proctor's plea deal. Other relatives said they wanted Proctor to stand trial so they could feel some closure in Patterson's death.

Amy was my Middle School Health Teacher in 2010, It was over the summer break when this must've happened because the Next Year on the first day of school, we all took a moment of silence for her death. The year before, you couldn't tell she was suffering at home. She was a sweet and positive person in the class and always looked out for her students. If I would've known what was happening behind the scenes... I could've done something. I did sing her a christmas song that year though! Haha, good times. God Bless her and the family. This tragedy was one we never expected.
