"A Tampa doctor faces multiple child pornography charges after images were found on a computer at his home. James Murphy, 49, XXXX South Westshore Blvd., Apt. 2102, Tampa, was arrested at home Wednesday night and charged with 33 counts of possession of child pornography..."


He was released after posting $66,000 bail. According to a statement from Bayfront Medical Center, Murphy is not an employee of the hospital but can practice there. He began working as an anesthesiologist at Bayfront in October 2005...."

A Tampa Bay anesthesiologist convicted of possessing child pornography, Dr. James D. Murphy Jr., escaped a jail sentence. He hoped to keep his medical license and eventually return to practice.

Department of Health prosecutors were willing. But the Board of Medicine was most emphatically not.

On Friday, when Murphy’s case came before the board at its meeting in Tampa, members said there is no way they would let him return to practice.
