Body Camera footage shows a Florida sheriff’s deputy’s investigation into a missing 13 year old girl, tracking her movements leading to her rescue.

Florida sheriff's deputy rescues missing girl, 13, from motel room with man she met online: police

A Florida sheriff’s deputy rescued a 13-year-old girl from inside a "dark motel room" where she had gone with a 22-year-old man she met online, officials said Monday.

The Volusia Sherriff’s Office received a report of a missing child around 6:15 p.m. Thursday and learned from the 13-year-old’s grandmother that the girl, an Oak Hill resident, never came home from school. She also never showed at a basketball game after school, the office said in a Monday Facebook post.

A compilation of body camera videos shows Deputy Royce James’ efforts in tracking her down.

...

"At the third motel he checked, Deputy James noticed a guest checked in under the name Tyler Thompson, with an address out of Orlando," the post states. "Deputies went to his room and knocked on the door several times before Thompson finally answered, and the victim came running."

...

"When she was told she’d be taken somewhere to be medically cleared and interviewed, the girl asked Deputy James to stay with her," police said. "He took her to a local Department of Children and Families facility for evaluation, and then took her home."

Thompson was charged with interference with child custody and traveling to meet after using a computer to lure a child, officials said. He could face additional charges.

What a dirty creep. Preying on a child like that. Horrible. She had no idea what reality with this loser would be like. She was probably so scared and confused. You can tell by how she ran up and hugged the deputy.

*this gross pervert’s photo needs to be outed! Name, blame and shame! What a pig!

Investigators said they responded to a report of a missing child on Thursday after the girl’s grandmother said she never came home and she didn’t show up to a basketball game after school.

The sheriff’s office said Deputy Royce James spoke to a friend of the girl who said the victim was planning on going to a motel with someone she met online. The friend said she believed the man’s name began with a T and was possibly named Tyler, and that he was from Orlando. She also said the victim may have been picked up at a nearby dollar store

Officials said Deputy James went to the dollar store to look for security video, and found surveillance images of the victim at the store. An employee reported the girl said she was waiting for someone to pick her up.

Investigators said Deputy James then began searching nearby hotels and upon reaching the third one, learned that a man named Tyler Johnson, with an address listed out of Orlando, had rented a room.

Deputies went to the man’s room where they found the girl inside with the man, officials say.

Investigators said when Deputy James came into the room, the girl ran and gave him a hug.

The girl was ultimately taken to a Department of Children and Families facility for evaluation before being taken home.

Deputies arrested 22-year-old Tyler Thompson. He has been charged with interference of custody and using a computer to lure a child. Additional charges are pending.

Thompson was released on a $15,000 bond.

Deputy James is the best. Thank you, Deputy.

Also thankfully the friend spoke up. Thanks to Dollar Store going through surveillance.

No doubt this child is traumatized. May she get the counseling she needs. Thankfully she is alive.

Great news in this follow up!

"An Orlando man who was arrested last year after a 13-year-old girl was dramatically rescued from him will spend decades in prison for dozens of child sex crimes.

Now 24-year-old Tyler Thompson was sentenced Thursday afternoon to 40 years in Florida state prison and an additional 45 years of sex offender probation.

Thompson’s charges included 27 counts of possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 as well as sexual battery on a child older than 12 but younger than 18, and traveling to meet a minor".
