This is probably a long shot but I'll give it a go anyway. ;)

Michael may have said "eff it!" after his argument with the boat captain then headed to FL to start a new life in that area. He was 40 pounds heavier than John Doe when he left WA 7 months before JD's death. Michael had at least two tattoos. There's no mention of any tatts on JD who apparently was quite recognizable after only a 2 day PMI. NamUs shows no exclusions all these years after his death. :(

He definitely looks a lot like the sketch I searched through NamUs again and I can't find anyone else that even comes close to looking like the sketch. So I don't know if it could possibly be him and the tattoos where left out of the file or what that's just one of those things that makes you think.

If the skin was badly decomposed the tattoos may not have been discernible from say an injury, an animal bite, etc.

The heat can make you drop weight rather quickly. Especially on those who are working outside like construction or landscaping. I wonder what type work he did after being on a vessel. I would think he’s have some transferable skills to other industries.

Ty for replying. I agree and that too is why I thought to suggest him as a PM. Tattoo descriptions and disclosures (or not) tend to leave me questioning often. Take Michael, for example. On the only photo in his profile it appears he has a mark on his upper right arm. Is that a tattoo? His profile mentions only one tattoo on his hand. So if this is a tattoo, why isn't it mentioned? If it's not, shouldn't it be noted on the case file? It seems LE or family would want to specify that this isn't something that will be visible on the MP's body. Just another one of those questions...

If I had to bet on it, I'd bet he did have other skills he could have used down in FL. It's also possible that he continued working in the same or a similar industry (e.g., outboard motor mechanic, swamp tour guide, marinas, etc). It's not like JD was discovered in the cornfields of Iowa. ;) And yeah, I'd not be surprised by a 40-lb weight loss after leaving the colder, damper climate of WA for FL. Good points!
