It's David's 70th birthday in two days. It would be wonderful if he was found by then.

Some additional photos of David

Still no news unfortunately
So so very sad. My husband's cousin had dementia, and was in a VA in California. He managed to leave somehow and many days later we found out that he had been in a homeless encampment. Well, he would walk for miles, more than 20, in a day and not remember to eat and unfortunately this is what happened to him. People living there called authorities who brought him to a hospital, and he died of malnutrition. So sad.

It was aired just before Oct 6. Information we've heard before --

Was walking to the tree. A different tree had fallen across the path so he was left there while a Bobcat, I think, was brought back to remove the fallen tree, but David and his dog were nowhere to be found. Was seen several times on cameras. Lost his glasses, a shoe and sock. Shirt was torn, probably as he climbed under a barbed wire fence, a tuft of fur recovered from that fence was matched to the dog. Last time he was seen (potential sighting), he said he was lost. 2.5 miles from his brother's property.

The dog returned without him.

How does a person just disappear?

His family's pain is palpable. Heartbreaking.

[Marni Hughes, NewsNation] What about brother who was with him prior to him vanishing what did he say about his mental state of mind?

[David’s wife] Um, David was confused um he uh suffers from bipolar disorder and he had um taken himself off of his medication uh when he found out he had cancer. I did not, I was not aware of this, and so I started to see some signs of that manic state um coming on, and I that's when I decided to maybe taking him to see his brother.
We could hit a reset button um you know, because he was clearly under a lot of stress uh being at home trying to finish a home that we were building, and um you know, dealing with the cancer.

====

I wasn’t aware he had bipolar disorder. And that he stopped taking his meds for it.

This area is pretty rural. My guess is he was eaten by a bear, gator, or Florida panther. When big cats attack prey, they drag them up into the trees.

Wondering if he is the unidentified person found in Pinellas County

Unidentified Male

The clothes do not match to what David was last seen wearing, and he was bare foot with just one sock, but who knows…

Would be great if family could at last get closure. I think of David often, incredible how he disappeared into thin air in a residential neighbourhood
