A Collier County Public Schools teacher has been charged with a felony after an investigation determined that he had placed a video camera in a restroom at Pinecrest Elementary School in Immokalee.
Diego Alberto Rojas-Pulido, 37, is charged with video voyeurism - offender 24 or older and victim under 16. The charge is a second-degree felony.
Deputies say three students discovered what appeared to be a video recording device attached to a metal tissue box in the restroom adjacent to the classroom where Rojas-Pulido was teaching on Tuesday. The students reported it to Rojas-Pulido, who removed the device from the restroom but did not report it to the school administration. On Wednesday one of the students told a school counselor, who immediately reported it to the school’s principal and CCSO. CCPS then immediately removed Rojas-Pulido from the school.
On Thursday evening deputies were called to Rojas-Pulido’s residence at 14870 Pleasant Bay Ln #1203 after Rojas-Pulido attempted suicide. He was transported to a Lee County hospital for treatment. He was served with the Collier County arrest warrant in the hospital on Friday after detectives developed probable cause for the charge.
The investigation continues.
