I'm glad they updated that date - I was feeling so bad that no one had reported him if it was October.

I wish it would say if he drove to the race, and if his car is still there? Also wondering about him experiencing some kind of medical event after the race.

A little about the race ...

Titusville police search for missing man, 57, last seen at running event
The Ancient Oaks 100-Mile Endurance Run is described as an invitation only, low-aid race held on a 3.46-mile loop that uses the trails located within the boundaries of the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary. The 470-acre forest is located near the intersection of Columbia Blvd. and U.S. Highway 1.

I can’t imagine he couldn’t get far on foot after that race. Our town hosted the IronMan the last few years and we loved watching finishers crossing the finish line. The pride mixed with utter exhaustion, even from the professionals, was fascinating. They truly leave it all out there. And the IronMan is just 70 miles, with “only” 26.2 miles of running.

Although he was seen "at the finish line", the event is multiple (29) laps of a 3.46 mile course, so he would have passed it each lap. The race started at 7am and he was last seen at 9:30 pm. Few runners would likely finish the 100 miles in less than 24 hours and there was a 32 hour cutoff so he was likely not much past halfway done. The site said the event was going to last through Sunday.

My guess is he either wandered off the trail in the dark and got lost or injured, or he decided to retire from the race and didn't tell the organizers. A "low aid" race probably means there were possibly only a couple of volunteers running it and it looks like there were only 41 entrants. I wonder if it was the race director who reported him missing, or family, or someone else?

I'm hoping this is the case. If it was the race organizers who reported him missing, he may be resting in his hotel or traveling back to Tulsa unaware that people are searching for him. I have a feeling he will turn up safe and sound. At least I hope so. MOO

Hooray! So glad he is safe. The article says he was found in the 700 block of Columbia Blvd. so (even though it's not exact) I just used 700 Columbia on the map to get a general idea of how close he was to the venue. Pretty close:
