Enora Lavenir died Aug. 7, 2021, while her family was staying at a rental in Wellington, Florida, during a visit from France, the family said in a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County Court.

The lawsuit alleges that while the Airbnb listing advertised the unit as a “peaceful place to stay,” it had a history of being used as a party house. Days before the French family arrived, according to the complaint, someone threw a party where drugs were consumed.

After months of investigation, it is not clear where the fentanyl that killed Enora came from.

Enora’s case is now closed pending viable leads, according to the sheriff’s office.

Per the article:
“Fentanyl is incredibly potent. So you’re only talking about a couple of grains of salt-size particles, which would result in this level of toxicity to a 19-month-old baby,” he said.

Not sure how such deaths can be prevented in vacation rentals of any kind, which is very scary. Much less than a trace amount can kill a small child.

It's horrible to live in a world where illegal drugs possibly laced with fentanyl are "recreationally" consumed.

I feel for this family. But what can be done to stop such a deadly drug from causing widespread contamination that injures or kills innocent victims?

When my kids were that little, I would bring their pack n go playpen and my own sheet for them to sleep in. Wonder what the set-up was here?

I was discussing this with hubby the other day. He only slightly pays any attention to my tc conversations. I feel for this family. I would think this is going to be incredibly hard to prove that the airbnb is at fault. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS AS VICTIM BLAMING, if I was the owner's attorney, I would argue that there's no proof parents didn't bring the drug into the rental or have it in their car. I don't believe they did but reasonable doubt. I would imagine the parents would have to prove the owners knew, not rumor, there were drugs in the rental and purposely choose to not do anything about it ( not clean etc). I hate this for them.

I wonder if the homeowner used a reputable cleaning service in between guests. Maybe there’s cameras in the area that prove the parties happened. So sad this little tyke was lost so tragically.
