GUILTY FL - FSU Law Professor Dan Markel Murdered by Hitmen-Donna Adelson Upcoming Trial - *5 Guilty* #27

Florida State University professor Dan Markel was found in his Tallahassee, Florida, home on Friday. Police say there were no signs of robbery or burglary and have yet to disclose any motive.
According to Tallahassee police, officers found Markel after a neighbor called 911 at about 11 a.m. with reports of a "loud bang."

Markel, 41, was rushed to a local hospital, where he died the following day. "While we cannot release specific information or details regarding this case, the Violent Crimes Unit is releasing that Mr. Markel's cause of death was a fatal gunshot wound to the head," Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said in a statement.
By Monday, police had categorized the case as a homicide, and according to Tallahassee Police Department spokesman David Northway, Markel was the intended target.

This was huge to me.
Remember in the Murdaugh trial when Maggie’s sister testified that even though she and others were terrified and desperate to find the killer, Alex didn’t seem afraid at all, and was only interested in the boat injury lawsuit. She thought it was weird.
Same thing here I think.
They weren’t interested because they already knew who killed him.

Rob Adelson testified that Wendi sent him a text about her boyfriend and Gainesville trip. He testified that Wendi requested he not tell the parents about JL. I thought it pointed to Wendi being more involved. Because Rob would be able to relate that the guy in Gainseville had a car like the one id'ed at the hit scene. I think that is a link to set up JL as the murderer and him being so controlling that maybe he was a killer as well.

BTW, RA was also able to get in how wealthy the A’s were, renting that expensive condo on South Beach with famous people in it….even though the defense has tried to downplay their wealth.

I believe I've mentioned this before, but I feel it's important to bring it up again: Georgia is an FSU grad and teaches at the law school, so while this isn't "personal" it kind of is to me in this subtly poetic way.
The Adelsons are living an actual nightmare of their own creation; being exposed for their evil and prosecuted in Tallahassee by an FSU Law Professor.

If only Dan Markel could see this! However, his ghost and loss continue to engulf this merry band of idiots. I do remember Donna mentioning in a wiretap some time back that she felt he was "haunting her" and I absolutely hope that he is, and the rest of them, every night.

Yes to all you wrote. The whole JL thing and him being concerned that he was set up is forefront in my mind if Wendi is charged. I think since Wendi testified that he creeped her out and issues that Charlie testified about him.....it opens the road to something that Wendi was supposed to create, akin to the whole going in the neighborhood and bourbon issue for Wendi.

Rob after Wendi highlighted the amount of lies that Wendi seemed to be telling. I loved it.

Rob has my heart because he seems like such a good guy who has to be emeshed with horrible people. I was heartened to read that he has not spoken to Donna since she said she didn't care about the arrest.

Relistening to Wendi and the maximum damage question by the prosecution--- Dan Markel's pleading that she took things and left in a way to inflict maximum damage on him as a strategy between her and her mom. Wendi denies and then her brother talks about Donna's glee in calling Dan Markel just as he was about to speak at a conference to let him know she left.

These folks are evil.

I never realized that GC is an adjunct professor at FSU. I just looked up her bio on the law school site.

Georgia Cappleman taught Florida Criminal Procedure this semester. She is a 2001 graduate of Florida State University College of Law and has been an assistant state attorney for over 17 years. Currently, she serves as chief of Felony Division D. From November 2009 to January 2017, she served under Hon. Willie Meggs as chief assistant state attorney. She has handled over 150 jury trials including death penalty cases and many cases involving violence against women and children. She has lectured on multiple topics, including the death penalty, sexual assault, and domestic violence. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Refuge House, which is an organization that provides emergency shelter, counseling, and other resources to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in the Big Bend Area. She chairs the local Regional Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Group. She has also coached the FSU College of Law trial teams for several years and was proud of her team for bringing home the CAJC National Championship in 2015.

So, looking at the bolded section: If she won the trial team championship in 2015, that means she was probably coach there for some years prior to that. And that would suggest that she probably had at least a passing familiarity with both Dan Markel and Wendi Addison.

I know the Tallahassee legal circles aren't very big, but I guess it never occurred to me that she had known DM and/or WA before the murder.
