JMO and experience but counterpoint: if she had searched for that particular ABC store on her phone or navigated to it on maps another time, it may indeed have been the top hit.
Not that I think she’s being truthful here, but phones know where you’ve been before and will make suggestions.

here’s an example from my personal cell phone just now. My kid took music lessons at a chain called “bach to rock” for years and they opened one much closer to us a few years back, but we have never been to that location. When I search Bach to Rock in google maps, you’ll notice the top (matching) hit is the Herndon location, despite fairfax being 3 miles closer. My phone/google maps knows that, for whatever reason, the other times i navigated to bach to rock, Herndon is the location I asked for.
In my case, there are multiple routes and this is a traffic heavy area, so we use maps often to get to same location, which I realize most ppl in less congested areas don’t need to bother with getting directions to same place repeatedly so may not have this experience, but the phone does learn!
