According to The Tampa Tribune, Tampa, FL, December 29, 1992, Gloria previously had a live-in boyfriend for two years before he left her home two months before she was murdered. Gloria was murdered either the Saturday or Sunday following Christmas in 1992 with a cutting instrument. The murder weapon was never found and no suspects ID'd. Gloria worked at Edward Systems Technology in Sarasota.

Why would they not just say a knife? How many cutting instruments are there? Scalpel? Saw blade? Hatchet?

That is odd to me that no one from her employer, Edward Systems Technology, per the newspaper, would talk to investigators. Perhaps their employer made them remain quiet? It seems LE could speak to them at their homes instead?

If you live in Sarasota or Manatee County please take a moment this holiday weekend to share this post. We are still seeking any information in the unsolved 1992 murder of Gloria Cushing. She was killed in her home, located on Cypress Circle near the Sarasota USF campus today. Renewed attention to this case could bring the one piece of information or evidence that could finally close out this 28 year old case. Whoever did this, hasn’t gone 28 years without slipping up.. Someone knows something, someone saw something.

It is with great sadness that I announce that the Manatee County District Attorney's office has decided they will not prosecute in Gloria's murder case at this time. This beautiful woman is not going to receive justice unless someone else in our community comes forward with new information on this case. You can remain anonymous. So much information has been brought forward but these individuals have either passed on or been inconsistent with their recollections. We know her killer is still out there, and likely within our community! Anyone that could do such a heinous act will do it again...Please help spread her photographs and her memory! Please place pressure on the media to run her story or her photographs before anymore time is lost. Please contact Arthur Brown at the 12th Judicial Circuit State's Attorneys Office or Manatee County Homicide Division if you can help in any way. We will continue to pray that Gloria will get justice and find comfort that she is at peace in heaven.
