Two healthcare workers in Florida face charges after they allegedly livestreamed themselves mocking a patient with dementia.

Jada Harris, 18, and Shy'Tiona Jazziemysha Bishop, 20, were arrested on Friday, records from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office show. They were also fired from their jobs at the Market Street Memory Care in Melbourne, Fla.

The two women face felony charges for abuse of an elderly or disabled adult and video voyeurism. Harris, who allegedly filmed the incidents, faces an felony additional charge for illegal interception of communication, according to police records reviewed by PEOPLE.

My only experience with this godawful ailment is dealing with 3 close relatives who suffer from it, so these people have medical educations and found this treatment amusing? If there is any crime that screams for the MAX this is one too.

2 Florida women arrested after taunting, abusing elderly woman on live stream, sheriff says: 'pieces of crap'

"I wouldn't let them care for a pet cobra because he might accidentally bite them and he would die of 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 poisoning," Ivey said. "Not only are they bags of crap, but the people that were on there laughing and mocking this poor lady, yeah, you're bags of crap, too."

I’d respect his professionalism some if he would have just went with the snake joke. It’s poor judgement to be so personal.

I agree but I understand his disgust. Perhaps he knows someone in the same boat as this poor woman and it ignites a fury in him to think his loved one would be treated so terribly. It really is beyond the pale, imo. Just a sheer lack of humanity in those two, to find amusement in the abuse of someone so vulnerable.

I agree and understand. I’m just concerned with what a lawyer could possibly do. Can we trust in a fair shake for these bags with the investigation leader/brass openly saying stuff like that? They aren’t convicted yet nor am I anywhere close to defending these actions but I think it should be fair.

Well, this is heartening. I don't recall seeing a case filing like this - but the DA rules, in my book. This is FL, after all. They have their own ways of being and their own culture.

I think the lawyerly, legalistic language is poorly understood by most. This guy got across clearly the severity of the crime. I rather admire that aspect of the Old West. When funding disappears for LE and the population is large, rhetoric is our friend.

This was terrible.

IMO

I listened again to his PC. He actually said, "I wouldn't let them care for a pet cobra because he might accidentally bite them and he would die of "s*** bag poisoning."

It is, and I'd like to think that I'd rise above... but otoh, my MIL-in law just died this week, and I can imagine showing a little bit of poor judgment (<<that's a real understatement) if I found out someone did that to her, so I agree that it's unprofessional, but I can respect his humanity. sometimes imo jmo that's just as important.

I'm sorry, they should throw the book at them both. They should never be allowed within 1000 feet of any healthcare facility unless they're a patient themselves. This is despicable.

I agree on throwing the whole bookshelf but, with measures of course, they should serve some kind of service to people in that horrible shape. With money or something. I never take stuff on here or anywhere personally but this burns.

Believe me, I get his anger and disgust but from that position it would make sense to step aside for the greater cause of justice rather than chance some crazy court outcome.

you're right. and it's funny, because I'm the on who is usually looking at these things objectively and thinking prosecution/defense points, but that is how crazy this makes me. not that it's an excuse, just as an example of how this case overwhelms in its horror.
