Circumstances of Recovery: Property owners clearing a field near West 22nd Avenue and 67th Street in Hialeah on January 4, 1982, spotted two feet sticking out of the ground from underneath a sheet of plywood. When officers responded to the scene, they excavated the badly decomposed body from the shallow grave and transported it to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
The autopsy revealed the man, known as 'Mr. X,' was killed by two gunshot wounds to the chest. Because the body had been buried for "a least a few weeks," and perhaps as long as two or three months, the man's face was unrecognizable. Fingerprints were also unable to be obtained and no wallet was found at the scene.
The man had a full upper denture and only six remaining natural teeth in his lower jaw. The medical examiner also found evidence of arthritis in the left shoulder.

A decomposed body of an unidentified man was found Monday afternoon in a field near W. 22nd Avenue and 67th Street, Hialeah police said. Police said the body had been there for at least two or three months.
Owners of the property were clearing the land when someone discovered the body under a piece of plywood.
"It was pretty, pretty bad," said Hialeah police spokesman Robert Spiegel. Police do not yet know the cause of death.
