Hollywood eastbound splits into 2 lanes right there and Dixie Highway is separated into northbound and southbound lanes by railroad tracks. The tracks were definitely active then. I wonder what the cause of death was? Traffic homicide? Train?

I thought of traffic too or an altercation with another person. But, now that you mention train, along with the high alcohol level listed, maybe he was hit. If that were the case, it seems like that would have made the newspaper, maybe not in 2002.

According to the Unidentified wiki he was hit by a train. The only source listed is NamUs so I assume that info used to be on NamUs but was taken off for some reason.

The decedent was sitting on railroad tracks at North 21 Avenue and Taylor Street when he was struck by a train. He had a high blood alcohol level.

Correct. He was excluded as being this unidentified decedent. I think that the comparison was made because Mr. Carroll is similar to the estimated age of the deceased as well as being similar in height and weight.
There doesn't seem to be a thread on this site for Mr. Carroll.
