curious???
How did you find this?
I can find nothing (so far) except this websleuth's post, when i google search?

That zipcode is some of the oldest neighborhoods of Jacksonville....

My guess is this bone may have been there since the late 60s too... The son found it while it was still a jawbone. Wonder if they searched for any more remains.

No resolutions here, just a footnote to history.

From the 1st post, NAMUS;
"Date Body Found June 2, 1980"
"Approximately 7 years prior"..."complainant found the bone
while cleaning the house in 1980
".
So the complainant's son wasn't certain of the date, so the
cat could have "drug it out of a wooded area behind the
house
" in 1973 or 1974. I guess the law enforcement back
in 1980 would have at least walked in the back yard behind
the house (and looked over any fences if such existed) and
saw nothing.

(I understand "drug" to mean 'carried'.)

Again from NAMUS; "GPS Coordinates (Not Mapped)"
GPS coordinates seen in NAMUS are often not relevant to
the case. I wonder if the GPS coordinates given elsewhere
in that NAMUS page are relevant, as they currently locate to
the back yard of a house in Stonemont St. The gutter
drainage in that street and nearby streets has large openings
down into the drainage system. Also, several of the nearby
houses are circa 1950's concrete block built houses but the
adjoining property immediately west of that back yard in
Stonement St is a property in Rockmont St and there used
to be (i.e. pre-2017) a small house, possibly wood and/or
concrete block (with siding covering) on that property in
Rockmont St that had numerous small visible openings to
underneath that house (into a crawlspace?). Unfortunately,
circa 2017 that small house must have been taken down,
as the current larger concrete and vinyl siding house on
that Rockmont St property was built in 2017 and is
apparently a different house.
Cats love to check out drainage holes and to crawl under
houses, so I have to wonder... .

Probably never will be solved....
But I agree with others........... a child.
And who knows..... it could possibly go wayyyyy back in history.
