From his Doe Network page: 3538UMFL

Cause of Death: Blunt Trauma to Head

DNA: Not available.

Circumstances of Discovery

The body of an unknown baby boy was found in a trash can, in the ladies room at the Jacksonville International Airport. A portion of the umbilical cord was still attached to the body. A custodian made the discovery when cleaning the women restroom in the second-floor lobby. She noticed a brown trash bag, tied with a twist-top, inside a trash can. In the same garbage bag police found two white plastic spoons and blood-soaked paper towels different from the kind dispensed at the airport.

Police narrowed the time of the incident to between 10 and 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 15, 1987. But authorities determined if the mother flew in or out on a plane.

Jacksonville Airport wasn't that big in 1987. She may not have been flying anywhere. Back then you could walk all over the airports. The paper tickets and boarding passes would have at least yielded women of childbearing age.

Info on JAX:
At the end of the 1980s, Jacksonville International was served by 11 airlines: American, Continental, Delta, Eastern, Midway, Pan Am, TWA, United, USAir and commuters Comair (operating as Delta Connection) and USAir Express.

By the late 80s, a major terminal expansion was underway and included the extension of two concourses and the addition of a new ticketing and baggage claim building on the east side of the main terminal.

It says no DNA but I wonder if that means they just don't have DNA on the baby. Or maybe they're just not letting anyone know they have DNA from that umbilical cord. Perhaps they can get DNA from the evidence if it has been preserved well enough.

Checking airport tickets for 'woman of a childbearing age' in this case would be a hideous human rights violation.

As far as we know, the mother was just a child herself, a victim of sex trafficking or sexual abuse. It can't have been someone who was in a safe situation, or would have been in their right mind when they did this. Someone who went through childbirth all alone in an airport bathroom was obviously not in any kind of safe situation to have a child. I say let the baby rest and don't start a witch hunt for some poor girl who was obviously in a nightmare situation.
