Police last week found James Hawthorn’s white 1994 Ford Escort wagon in an area of farmland east of Belle Glade and just south of Airport Road. Hawthorn has not been seen since he left his home in the 900 block of Thayer Lane in Jupiter on July 11. His car was found near Belle Glade on Aug. 9.

Hawthorn suffers from dementia Jupiter police said.

Hawthorn is a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 145 pounds with gray hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a gray and brown plaid shirt, gray pants and gray shoes.

More than a month after his disappearance, investigators returned to the remote sugarcane field where a 79-year-old Jupiter man’s car was discovered.

James Hawthorn, who suffers from dementia, went missing from his Jupiter home on July 11. His station wagon was found a month later more than 50 miles away in a sugarcane field east of Belle Glade. Cadaver dogs and a search helicopter could not find any sign of Hawthorn.

Im not sure if this is relevant, but I found a obituary for Doris Hawthorn from Jupiter who passed in 2018

And it says she was preceded in death by her second husband James Hawthorn.
Her first husbands last name was Thayer. and is said in the missing post that James went missing on Thayer Lane.
Not sure if that's coincidence but seems too much of one. it says in the art world she was known as Dodie Thayer and seems she was actually quite big in the art world with high profile people including the Queen collecting her pottery. So wouldnt surprise me her street was named after her?

Details of Disappearance​

Hawthorn was last seen in the area of the 900 Block of Thayer Lane in Jupiter, Florida on July 11, 2014. He has never been heard from again. His white 1994 Ford Escort with the Florida license plate number 446MRU disappeared with him.

The car was found on August 9, in a canal on a farm south of Airport Road and east of Belle Glade, Florida. Its license plate was missing. There was no sign of Hawthorn at the scene; his case remains unsolved.
