''It was January 28, 2016 when family last heard Jerry Brown's voice''

By Kennedy Dendy, Action News January 30, 2023 rbbm.

''JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The fight for justice continues for the family of a local gospel singer who was shot and killed in 2016.
Brown’s aunt found him shot to death in her driveway in Grand Park, while he was sitting in a car.
Action News Jax spoke to Brown’s cousin, Chevie Green on Monday.

“Missing him tremendously. We still don’t understand,” Green said. “A lot of confusion, unanswered questions and unfortunately trying really hard not to lose hope.”
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated his death as a drive-by shooting.
His family said Brown had no enemies and that this was a case of mistaken identity.
“We need some answers or some direction of what’s going on,” Green said.
She asks if you know anything -- to speak up.
“The smallest thing that you may not think matters, may be the biggest clue we need,” Green said.
Last year the family was notified by police about new technology and evidence -- but there are still no new leads.
“Anything at all -- just know it will help,” Green said. “Obviously, we know it won’t bring him back. But it will give some sort of solace and some sort of a little bit of peace. It’s a recurring nightmare.”
She says Jerry was full of joy and energy.
This is just one of many things that stands out the most to Green about her cousin.''

''JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jerry Brown, 22, was killed sitting in his aunt’s driveway on the Northwest side of Jacksonville on January 28, 2016.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated his death as a drive-by shooting, but his family said Brown had no enemies and that this was a case of mistaken identity.''
Loved ones describe Brown as a “big teddy bear,” with a voice larger than life.

He aspired to be a gospel singer, but had put college and a scholarship on hold to take care of his mother who was suffering from breast cancer. She would die months later, never knowing who killed her son''
