''Schuchman’s stepbrother Matthew McKinney, who is now 51 years old, said he was working with two men based in Panama City named Vladimir Janko and Petr Pospisil, at first helping set up payroll software for the business and other odd jobs in December 1999.''
McKinney and Janko never really got to know each other outside of the business until McKinney offered to take the man, who was from the Czech Republic, out on his boat in Pensacola.
“He ate a meal at my parents’ house,” McKinney told the News Journal. “He was a good-looking guy, and I told Jessie, ‘Hey, this is my business partner, and he’s a good-looking young man. If you ever want to go out with a decent guy, he’d be a good guy to go out with.’”
Schuchman had a troubled past, and McKinney said his hope was to give his stepsister “more than what she had known.” It seemed to work to some extent, according to McKinney, after Schuchman and Janko went out on a date and became friends.
Unbeknownst to McKinney, however, the FBI was investigating Janko and Pospisil for their Gulf Coast cleaning service businesses.''
