FL FL - John Gyurstak, 74, Big Pine Key, boat found idling off Little Palm Island, 4 Nov 2019

John Gyurstak of Big Pine Key was last seen Monday afternoon leaving to fuel his boat. On Tuesday afternoon, the boat, a 30-foot center console with multiple outboards, was found Tuesday afternoon anchored just off Little Palm Island with the engines idling. There was no sign of Gyurstak.

A personal flotation device was found on the boat and there were no signs of foul play, officials said. Divers were searching the area Tuesday.

Update 1:
Mr. Gyurtsak’s vessel was discovered by responding FWC officers approximately one mile south of Big Pine Key with nobody onboard. Coast Guard and partner agency air and surface assets continue to search.

The Coast Guard has suspended the search for Mr. John Gyurtsak.

Sector Key West was notified that Mr. Gyurtsak was overdue from a boating excursion on Tuesday morning. Since that report, Coast Guard vessels and aircraft, as well as interagency partners, have exhaustively searched for nearly 62 hours, covering 2,280 square miles, an area roughly the size of Delaware.

Circumstances of Disappearance JOHN WAS LAST SEEN GETTING FUEL AT 1200 AT THE BIG PINE FISHING LODGE FOR A SCHEDULED FISHING TRIP THE NEXT MORNING. THE VESSEL WAS FOUND ON 11/5/2019, RUNNING WITH KEYS IN THE IGNITION AT LATITUDE 24.37.037 NORTH AND LONGITUDE 081.22.417 WEST IN THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.
