Do we know how long he was in Singapore for? Was it a vacation or did he live/work there? Depression, despondence, listlessness and a really profound sense of grief/loss after returning from a lengthy stay abroad(or somewhere far from home) are very common, sadly. You feel very changed but you're returning to many people who haven't seen that, don't understand or like the new you, or just expect you to go back to being who you were before.

Whether the body found was him or not, someone is hurting tonight, someones family lost a loved one.
