The Sheriff's Office asked for help Monday in finding Karen Borchardt, who was last seen about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Borchardt, a 50-year-old local woman, was last seen in the 7800 block of 14th Lane, Vero Beach, Sheriff's Office spokesman Major Eric Flowers said.

She was believed to have left on foot before hitchhiking south, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Borchardt's most recent known location is in West Palm Beach near North Lake Boulevard.

"It's possible she could be really anywhere," Flowers said. "We're concerned for her. We just want to make sure she's OK."

Borchardt was last seen wearing faded jeans, a dark blue shirt and a dark blue ball cap.

Foul play not suspected in case of Indian River County woman missing since Thursday

Officials haven't found a woman missing since Thursday but don't suspect foul play in her disappearance.

We did a search to see when she used her cell phone, and the last place it pinged was in West Palm Beach the day she went missing," Flowers said Monday. "So we don't believe she's still in Indian River County. We think she went south on her own."

The search for Borchardt continues, Flowers said, "but we have no reason to believe there was any foul play."
