Seminole County Sheriff's Office

UPDATE: The child’s mother, 29 year old Kailyn Pollard (4/5/89)of Sorrento, is charged with Negligent Manslaughter in the death of her one-year-old daughter Kit Noelle Pollard.

Mother being questioned after child found dead in car

Seminole Co. (September 28, 2018) - - Seminole County Sheriff's investigators are questioning a mother whose one-year-old daughter was found deceased in the back of a car at a local gas station.

Just before 5 p.m. Friday, deputies were called to the report of a child possibly left in a locked vehicle at the Wawa in the 4600 block of State Road 46 in unincorporated Sanford. The vehicle was parked at a gas pump. A one-year-old girl was discovered in the vehicle already deceased.

Investigators are currently questioning the mother. Initial indications are the mother went to work this morning and forgot the child was in the vehicle. Investigators are still working to establish a timeline of events.

We are working closely with the State Attorney’s Office and will continue to consult with them as the investigation unfolds.

The identity of mother and child are not being released at this time.

Oh...I just can’t comprehend this insanity. A one year old?? How can a mother forget her baby? At any age?

How do these young parents forget they have their child with them? Are they feigning forgetfulness? What gives?

I heard on talk radio, KFI LA, that this Mom had one of those 'baby mirrors' on her visor. It shows her baby's car seat, and one can see the baby's face. My son has the same mirror in his car. You cannot 'forget' your baby when you are driving because that mirror is just inches above your windshield. How could she not notice, all that time?
