Article from the Tampa Bay Times (July 2, 1984).

It is behind a paywall of course.
We don't at this time feel that it (the person) is most likely a (victim of) homocide [sic]," said patrolman Tom NiIsson. The skull will be turned over to detectives, who may send it off for forensic analysis, he said. Nilsson said that police found out about the skull when they were called to break up an argument between B S and L S at 706 16th Ave. NW.
S, 27, decided to throw out his girlfriend's personal items during the quarrel. Ms. S, 25, told Nilsson that she found the skull six or seven years ago in a duffel bag on North Fort Harrison.

Largo John Doe's NamUs was modified today but there are no public exclusions and I don't know what was changed.
It was probably taken from someone's grave.
Possibly. But it could also be an old medical specimen, some of which were acquired under ethically questionable circumstances and some not.

Surely they must have some idea of how old the skull is. MOO.

1984 and the woman said she “found” it 6 or 7 years ago so that would be 1977 or 1978. I wonder if they could tell if the skull was really an old artifact or if it was from the 1970s ?
