Description:
Burgess went missing from Cocoa, Florida on April 22, 1994. He was last seen around 11:00 a.m. at his residence in the 3600 block of Shelly Court. He has never been heard from again.
At the time of his disappearance, Burgess was suffering from symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease, but was not taking any medication. He had a history of wandering away from home and forgetting how to get back, and had been picked up several times by police and neighbors.
Another elderly person in Cocoa, Mary Zedalis, disappeared in the same month as Burgess and was also never found despite an extensive search. Investigators have no reason to suspect the cases were related, but they believe both Burgess and Zedalis died shortly after they went missing.
