Teen who found body in Charleston Park woods said he saw hand sticking out of ground

"I've seen what looked like a turtle hole and I started looking," the teen said. "And it looked like deer hair."

The remains, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, were found in the 23000 block of Avenue D.

The area where the grave was found is in the woods adjacent to a church called New Hope Faith Temple of Jesus Christ: The New World.
Deputies also roped off a jumble of untidy trees across the street from the church where a dark red-and-silver bike could be seen.

Crime scene investigators were scouring the ground behind the building where there is an open field that leads to an area with heavy vegetation.

He said he started looking around and saw women's clothes, including a bra and ribbon, and hair. That scared him and his friends so they ran, he said.

The boy, who lives down the street, said he was trying to trap raccoons behind his friend's house when he came across the remains of a young woman.

"I started looking around, and I seen clothing, and I seen a bunch of hair," he said, adding that the remains were partially buried in the ground.

"I seen what looked like almost an animal hand but then I realized it was human remains. And I lost it."

He and his friend alerted adults, who then called deputies.
The sheriff's office hasn't released any information on the body, including the identity or manner of death.

The witness says he saw blonde hair and the neighbors say they know who it is:
Officials were called to the 23000 block of Avenue D in Alva where the remains were discovered, deputies said.

Authorities have been combing through surrounding woods looking for clues for several hours.

At this time, the sheriff’s office has not yet released the identity of the remains found, but neighbors are saying they know who the woman was.

Neighbors say two teenage boys found the remains while they were looking for raccoons in their backyard.

“I found this and I was like, this is a nightmare. This is happening,” said one of the boys. “I was looking and I seen clothes of her and I seen a bunch of clumps of hair–dirty blonde. And the second thing that popped into my mind was this is a human. This is somebody’s dead body.”

He quickly rushed to the closest house to tell his friend’s step father, Jerry Davis, what he had found.

“And the minute I saw it I knew it was a murder–a grave,” Davis said.

Was this case ever solved? Has anyone thought to compare this case to the cases of the Gilgo Beach serial killer?
