Details of Disappearance​

Dibenedetto was last seen at Duke's Bar and Grill in Davie, Florida at 1:30 a.m. on June 12, 2000. She has never been heard from again. She was driving a beige 1996 Toyota Camry with the Florida license plate number XJF84P and Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins bumper stickers.

Dibenedetto was working as a nurse at the time of her disappearance, and lived in Sunrise, Florida. Few details are available in her case. Sunrise police are investigating.

Woman Places Two Calls and Is Gone​

Libby Dibenedetto was last seen on April 11, 2000. She was out with friends. She was living with her mother at the time of her disappearance and is the mother of three children. At the time she went missing, Dibenedetto was working at a doctor’s office and was recently divorced. On the morning of April 11, 2000, she called her therapist twice and her therapist told her to go home. She was less than half a mile away from her house, however, she never made it there. Dibenedetto has not been seen or heard from since that night and her vehicle, 1996, Toyota, Camry, beige, has not been recovered. She was 35 years old at the time of her disappearance. Not sure about the date discrepancy between The Charley Project and Guardians for the Missing, but everywhere else says June 12, 2000, so I'm going with that.

According to the National Missing Persons Directory, Libby Ann was "last seen alive... at 06:12," almost five hours after the time listed at the CP.

When did the bar close? The time in between the closing to 6:12am may provide clues as to what she was doing.

Did she call the therapist around that time? Only about 28% of Americans had cellphones back then. If she didn't have one, and she never arrived home, then where did she call from? A payphone? That can bring up a bunch of other considerations.

I'm also concerned that she may have been drinking while on an anti-depressant and also driving. There appear to be a lot of small bodies of water in the area. Are they deep enough to hide an entire car?

Libby has 2 NamUs entries, MP9694 created 3/14/2011 and MP117054 created 2/27/2024.

MP117054 was modified today. No exclusions listed for either entry.

Makes me wonder if one of the dive teams may be working on locating her car in one of the canals. I know the searches have been active lately, although not sure if they are looking for Libby specifically.

I follow sushine sonar on FB and saw this. It made me think of Libby. I searched the intersection she pond was at vs where Libby was last heard from when she phoned her therapist. Both on same mane road and look about 1/2 mile or so apart.

The vehicle located in a Broward Canal has been confirmed to be Libby.

I'm glad that her family finally has the answers that they've been looking for and can lay her to rest, but I'm sad that it took 25 years (almost to the day!).

According to this article, Libby's "last known contact was a phone call to her therapist from a payphone near North Pine Island Road and West Sunrise Boulevard." Her car was then found "submerged in a small pond near the 1400 block of North Flamingo Road in Plantation, 13 feet underwater."

So for this whole time Libby has been just four miles away from her last known location, and in an area that seems pretty populated. Makes me wonder how many other missing people have ended up like this and have yet to be found.

These guys are heroes. Simple as that.
And yes, many have unfortunately met the same fate and lie undiscovered...but this team is doing everything that they can to change that!

Kareem Tisdale was found in this way just half a mile away from Libby, at the Sawgrass Mills Mall.
It's amazing how they've been able to find multiple people who they wouldn't have even known to search for because of these cases.
