Just after midnight on November 28, 1986, 55 year old Lorenzo Rodriguez aka Lorenzo Rodriquez was stabbed in the chest as he exited the rear door of the El Lucero Bar in Immokalee, Florida. Lorenzo, a Cuban national who had no family in Immokalee, died in the parking lot as an unidentified male, presumably his killer, fled the scene on foot. The case remains unsolved.

When he exited the rear of the bar, who knew he was going to be there? It is only a 1/2 mile to his last new address so assuming he was going to walk home, why the back door?

I was able to copy the verbiage from the article under the OCR link.

"NEWS-PRESS, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1986 'SB SOUTHWEST FLORIDA IN BRIEF Man killed outside bar IMMOKALEE An unidentified man stabbed in the chest died in a parking lot of an Immokalee bar early Saturday, according to the Collier County sheriff's department. The man, whose name has not been determined, was stabbed with a knife shortly after midnight Saturday. He died in the parking lot of the El Lucero bar on the corner of Boston Avenue and South Second Street. The assailant fled on foot, deputies said. No description of the killer was available. An employee of the bar, Julia Gonzalez of Immokalee, said the dead man was known to her as Lorenzo. He has no family in Immokalee and was born in Cuba, she said. She said there will be no service or funeral for the man. "If I had the money, I would pay for it," she said. "But I'm too poor."

I apologize for the late reply - I was half asleep when I read your comment.

I'm not sure, but I believe he must have gained the trust of Julia to use the backdoor. Maybe the guy was waiting for someone else, saw Lorenzo opening the door and thought it was their target, and things went from there?
