SANFORD, Fla. – Nearly four years after a pair of deadly hit-and-run crashes, the man accused in those wrecks is now facing trial.

Jury selection in the case against Michael Kraft, 40, began Monday.

3/3/2025

In 2021, police say Kraft hit a motorcyclist who was riding in the lane next to him on SR 46 in Sanford.

Investigators say Kraft did not stop and ended up making a u-turn and struck the motorcyclist again, along with a good samaritan who had stopped to help.

The victims were 73-year-old Vincent Russo and Jenica Campbel, a mother of 4.

Prosecutors are first up and are now starting to ask questions to the pool of potential jurors.

Court is back in session following a lunch break. Prosecutors have resumed questioning.

Both prosecutors and defense will have the opportunity to ask the pool of potential jurors questions as they whittle down the group to a final jury selection.

Kraft is facing 6 charges: 2 counts DUI manslaughter, 2 counts vehicular homicide, 2 counts leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death

If he is convicted, the Office of the State Attorney

18th Judicial Circuit says he faces a maximum punishment of 120 years in prison.

A Sanford man who struck and killed a motorcyclist on S.R. 46 then did a U-turn and mowed down a Good Samaritan has been convicted of two counts of DUI manslaughter and two counts vehicular homicide.

MICHAEL KRAFT, 40, faces a combined sentence of 120 years in prison after a Seminole County jury found him guilty March 7 of killing Vincent Russo, 73, and Jenica Campbell, 39, in March 2021. The jury also convicted Kraft of two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

KRAFT did not deny causing the deaths but claimed he was insane at the time.

After a four-day trial, he jury deliberated for 45 minutes before finding Kraft guilty as charged.

45 minutes. Wow. And good. How evil and senseless. Has he shown any remorse at all?
