A Hillsborough County fire captain is behind bars tonight, accused of possessing hundreds of CSAM images and videos.

For years, Captain Marshal Nelson was considered a trusted leader within Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, but now he’s in jail facing disturbing charges of possessing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Investigators said they located several electronic devices in the fire captain’s home on Thursday, devices that allegedly held over 300 images and videos of child sexual abuse material.

On Tuesday at 2:02 p.m., detention deputies found Marshall Nelson, 52, after he attempted to take his own life.

Deputies and jail medical staff began life-saving efforts before Nelson was transported to the hospital. He was pronounced dead on Wednesday, according to HCSO.

Jail deputies discovered Marshall Van Nelson, 52, hanging by a bedsheet from a shower door at the jail about 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and jail medical staff began life-saving efforts before Nelson was taken to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead the next day."
