Deputies: Man used werewolf mask, shock collar to abuse 2-year-old child

A spokesperson for Escambia County Sheriff's Office says 37-year-old Andrew Ross Celaius was taken from the jail to the hospital Wednesday around 11 p.m. for unknown reasons. He was not housed in general population but protective. ECSO says they cannot comment on his medical condition.

Original Story

A man is behind bars after deputies say he used multiple ways of torture to abuse a 2-year-old.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office says the girl's mother brought her to the hospital with the suspicion of ringworm. Deputies say the ER doctors immediately determined the ring marks on the child were burn marks.

37-year-old Andrew Ross Celaius was arrested and has been charged with aggravated child abuse and tampering of evidence.

"It's the thing nightmares are made of and no child should ever be subjected to this," Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said.

After searching the home, the sheriff's office found a substantial amount of video and photo evidence of abuse taken on home surveillance and cellphone video.

The sheriff's office says video showed Ross Celaius throwing water bottles at the child to wake her up. Investigators say he would also use a lighter to burn the child. Video also shows Celaius shooting the child with an airsoft gun in order to wake her up.

Video showed him wearing a werewolf mask during the abuse.

Not his first rodeo, either. Not enough evidence last time?

In "protective" custody. Smh! This was not the first time he has abused a baby. They just didn't have enough evidence last time. He's a serial abuser and probably would have murdered a child eventually. This is what the death penalty was created for, IMO. He even videoed himself committing some of these horrific acts.

IMO, hypothetically if one were to look for comments on a news post on Facebook they may find a crowd sourcing post for the child and they may hypothetically find pictures taken at the hospital.

From the link above:

Ross Celaius has a criminal history, including a 2006 case where he was charged in the homicide of a 2-year-old. He was acquitted in that case.

I wonder if it's possible to find out more about the previous homicide charge and why he was acquitted.

I tried searching and didn't come up with anything. I also didn't spend a ton of time on it because I quickly became frustrated with the whole thing after reading 5 articles detailing his abuse to the recent child.

This is the kind of crap that gives people PTSD and other issues all their lives. I hope someone does the same to him.

Just horrifying. I wonder if he will survive. I hope so because I want him to hear the word, "Guilty."

From the link above:

'"All the rooms were wired, everything was videotaped," said Clay. "There's over 1,000 pieces of evidence they're still sifting through'

If this is true, at least the criminals made this super easy for the LE. Luckily there should be no question of guilt this time.

While it is very easy to get the evidence to support the case, the task of having to sift through all of this abuse must be horrifying for the people who have to do it. They will need therapy, too.

Definitely. Just hearing about it is too much. I can't imagine what seeing it must do to you. I'm just glad there won't be much "Oh, I had no idea this was going on, it was all him" wiggle room for those who knew about the abuse. Now you can literally prove if someone was in the same room while it was happening, if the filming really was so extensive.
