I'm hoping this provides the needed answers for Nicole's family.

Supposedly this guy was a former parks and rec employee and an avid jogger. Quite interesting

Neighbors said he has lived there for a while and is rather quiet.

Eyewitness News was also able to confirm, through county records, that the man, 48, worked for the Orange County Parks division as a parks specialist from October 2006 until July 2008. Neighbors told Eyewitness News they would sometimes see him driving a golf cart around nearby Blanchard Park while working.

Nicole went missing in July 2008 and this guy happens to no longer be working for the Parks division? hmm...

Uncanny that:
He worked at JBP and doesn't anymore
AND
that he's a jogger.
Fingers crossed that this is *IT*.

Police may be close to suspect in jogger's slaying

Nicole Ganguzza was killed five days before toddler Caylee Anthony was reported missing. That case grabbed the headlines in Orlando -- and beyond.

Investigators wove a web of circumstantial evidence and charged the child's mother, Casey Anthony, the notorious "tot mom" whose wild party pictures became a cable news show staple.

Writing recently about the charitable foundation established in Nicole Ganguzza's name, an Orlando Sentinel columnist described her as "the anti-Casey."

Police say her killer deliberately hid her body in the brush along the trail. Investigators believe the killer either is from the area or is very familiar with the park and nearby campus.

The Orange County Medical Examiner characterized Ganguzza's death as a homicide by strangulation without elaborating. It is not publicly known whether she had been sexually assaulted.

"We are keeping very quiet about this because this is information that only the killer would know," said Orange County sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla.

Last week, Ganguzza's family and friends asked anyone with information to come forward and help solve this cold case. They expressed relief that the police may have a break in the case and that an arrest could come soon.

"I just hope they make an arrest soon in my wife's case, so they can get this dangerous guy off the streets," Brendan Ganguzza said.

Police executed a search warrant two weeks ago on the mobile home of a man who is considered a person of interest in the case. His home lies along the Econlockhatchee Trail.
Police executed a search warrant two weeks ago on the mobile home of a man who is considered a person of interest in the case. His home lies along the Econlockhatchee Trail.

He is a former student and employee of the University of Central Florida. Police say that after reviewing tips and leads, they believe they have probable cause to investigate this individual further.

"The search warrant is sealed, and I can't say at this time what evidence was collected or what led us to this individual," said Cpl. Susan Soto, a spokeswoman for the Orange County sheriff.

In that case, they were able to match the suspect's DNA to a sample found at the scene. Police have questioned him, but he has not been named a suspect in the Ganguzza case.

Police are being tight-lipped about whether Ganguzza's attacker left behind any DNA or other forensic evidence.

Here we go again, new suspects but there are 2 of them this time. They are not named yet. Hope they really are solving this murder....

There are two new men detectives are focusing on, in addition to former Orange County park worker Bruce Trebian, whose mobile home was searched by investigators almost two years ago; he called in sick, then resigned when investigators wanted a DNA sample from him, but eventually cooperated.

From December 2010:

Orange County sheriff's officials have arrested a 30-year-old man they say is connected to a string of break-ins and attacks on women in the University of Central Florida area.

Deputies charged Joel Pappas of Osteen with one count of armed sexual battery, which is related to a May 2009 attack at The Fountains apartments, but investigators said Wednesday they suspect he is responsible for three other similar crimes in east Orange County...

The 2007 slaying of Nicole Ganguzza, a 26-year-old jogger whose body was found off a running path near Jay Blanchard Park, has similarities to these crimes, but a sheriff's investigator said in October he doesn't know whether it is connected to the other attacks... Mankewich said investigators would be "crazy" to not look at Pappas as a suspect in the Ganguzza case.

From June 2012:

Though it's been four years since Ganguzza was killed, investigators aren't any closer to making an arrest. Orange County Sheriff's Office has released little information about the homicide in that time.

I hope they have some DNA to nail down the perp!

Pictures: Nicole Ganguzza cold case

Nicole Ganguzza, 26, a newlywed and University of Central Florida graduate student, was out for an evening jog on the Little Econ Greenway near Jay Blanchard Park on June 10, 2008, when she was dragged into the woods and killed. Ganguzza's husband reported her missing when she didn't return at about 5:45 p.m. Her body was found several feet off the jogging and cyclingtrail, partially concealed in thick brush.

Who knew she was going for a jog besides her husband?

Well I found out about this case in a roundabout way. I moved to the UCF area a couple of yrs ago. Never heard about Nicole’s case. I live near this park and have gone bike riding with my husband a couple times here. I was thinking about going running here this morning. Just a change from my normal residential circuit. I wanted to see what time it opened and where bathrooms were located.

Many of the other walking running trails in this area have long paths that are surrounded on both sides by trees and wilderness, so I don’t feel comfortable being alone since you’re basically hidden from public view. Blanchard Park isn’t like this if I recall. There’s sections where one side has brush but it’s open on the other side. It feels more like a public area.

I started reading comments and someone mentioned it being unsafe and linked her name. What a beautiful woman. Then I saw 2 other rapes! Nicole was out in broad daylight! She wasn’t running at night!

Obviously, I’m not going running here now. I’m sad they never found Nicole’s killer after all these years.

Definitely run with a partner! I'd carry mace or something too. I'm glad you were proactive and checked out the reviews. I do that too when I'm in a new area. I've taught my daughters to do the same thing. They know to text me their plans, what park they're going to and will text me pictures while hiking, then text me when they get back home. I always tell them, even if you don't want to send me pictures, text me so your phone pings off the nearest tower. In this day and age, it's a safety thing!
