New York City Police Department is searching for a couple who lost their engagement ring in Times Square.
He dropped to his knees, she said yes, and then moments later, in his excitement, the prospective groom dropped the engagement ring, and it fell into a grate in Times Square. He couldn’t retrieve the ring. (Photo of man trying to retrieve it.). So the couple left.

Surprisingly, the NYPD recovered (likely with some assistance) the ring.
Now the NYPD is looking for the couple — to return the ring. Anyone who knows the couple is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS.

What a nice story that could have a happy ending! Perhaps we can help.

I know it is not a missing person, but a missing ring.

NYPD found their lost ring in a drain. Now they're searching for the couple

Maybe it will end up being a Romantic Christmas Story. (He sees the ad about the ring being found on Christmas Eve then he wraps and gives the ring to her on Christmas.)

That would be wonderful!

She said yes, but he dropped ring down 8-foot grate. NYC police found it and are looking for couple Police — and internet — come to rescue after engagement ring mishap goes viral

UPDATE, article says the (now) happy couple is back in their home country, but have heard the NYPD is looking for them. Nice photo of the couple in this article.

What a neat story! Says something about our country that people here cared enough to spread the word. I think they heard about it on Twitter.
