One ID aid will be this woman's height, as 5'9" is pretty tall for a woman (I see it more now but when looking back at cases from the 70s/80s it seems more uncommon)
I think this lady looks similar to Regina McCorkle, though the circumstances don't really add up... I think for it to work, she'd have to be abducted and perhaps sex trafficked for ~3 years, but it seems ex-husband may be involved. She was between 5'6" and 5'9". She would have been 24. Another young lady I was looking at was Christine Denese (or Denise) James, who either went missing in '79 (at 12 years old) or in '83 (at 15 years old). She would have been younger than the estimated age, but she is the right height at 5'7-8" and Coleman FL is only a 45 min drive from Orlando FL.

This video confirmed that the hair on the reconstruction is based upon photos of the victim, which is useful imo. She seems to have a looser curl type.
Video also mentioned that they have done a DNA extraction and are pursuing forensic genealogy, but it hasn't yielded any close matches yet. Hopefully the pieces fall into place soon!

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said technological advancements are breathing new life into a suspicious death from 1984, moving deputies closer to identifying the cold case victim.

Detectives said the new advancements are connected to a cold case from Nov. 9, 1984 when the body of a Black female was found in the area of Frank and Liberty streets. They believed she had been shot and likely dumped in the location, but there was little movement in the case.

On Wednesday, deputies released a new digital rendering of the victim in the hopes of identifying her, along with reconstructions of the victim’s clothes. The sheriff’s office said it teamed up with the Florida Institute of Forensic Anthropology and Applied Science to create the rendering using her skull.

The cold case team is also working with forensic genealogists to try and find distant relatives.

If you have any information about this victim, please call Crimeline to submit an anonymous tip at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477), or email the cold case team at [email protected].

The cold case unit released new renderings on Wednesday from the Florida Institute of Forensic Anthropology and Applied Science of what Jane Doe may have looked like before she died. Digital artists created the images based on Doe's skull.

''One of only about dozen unidentified murder victims in Orange County, she is simply known as Jane Doe 1984. Along with developing a sketch of the woman, Kimmerle and her team at USF also recreated evidence found at the scene of the crime using a shirt, jacket and jeans she was wearing at the time of her death.

Detective Dave Nutting is currently working the case. He said a teenager found Jane Doe in a wooded area off Frank and Liberty streets in east Orange County in November of 1984.

“She had been shot and bound and dumped in that area," Nutting said. "The detectives worked tirelessly back in 1984 to attempt to identify her without success.”

Unable to even identify Jane Doe, the case went cold. But 40 years later, detectives are now trying a new method to solve the case.

“We are trying to identify her through forensic genetic genealogy," Nutting said. "The medical examiner sent the remains to DNA Labs international, DNA Labs international was able to extract DNA material from the victim’s bones."

And from there, scientists were able to use DNA databases to try and track down prospective family members.''

“She has features of us, the Pittman family — I see features," Turner said. "I have called them, my cousins, and they don’t remember anybody being missing."

Detectives are now testing Turner's DNA.

Her father — who died in 1995 — is Originally from New Jersey

Detectives have also been in contact with possible family members there, and they, like Turner, are eager to uncover the truth.''

Curious to know who is doing the genetic genealogy. Sounds like they’ll solve it soon once the family members DNA comes back.

''Many of these cases are made even more difficult to solve due to the lack of identifiers for many of the victims.

However, detectives have been able to make progress in identifying victims in several cold cases during recent years. Below are some of those cases and where they stand now.

Nov. 1984 — Woman’s body discovered in Orange County neighborhood

Last year, Orange County deputies got one step closer to identifying a woman whose body was discovered in a local neighborhood.

This cold case stems back to November 1984, when the woman was found near Frank and Liberty streets. Investigators said she was likely shot, and her body was dumped at the spot.

In 2022, detectives made headway in the case after they managed to create digital renderings of her face and clothes, though they have yet to conclusively determine who she was.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Crimeline to submit an anonymous tip at 800-423-8477. Alternatively, tipsters can email the cold case team at [email protected].''

If they're thinking this Doe's from New Jersey, just noting, the Doobie Brothers played the South Mountain Music Fair in West Orange, New Jersey, on July 9, 1981. After the Doobie Brothers broke up, Michael McDonald toured, but he didn't have dates in 1984.

So there are some big acts in Florida then for fall of '84 (when you might have a jacket): Jackson Victory Tour, Dan Fogleberg, ZZ Topp, Rod Stewart, Elton John. Looking at a map for where I believe they found the remains, that's near University of Central Florida. That's about an hour and a half to the USF Sun Dome, which is a big concert venue. Orange Bowl's about three to four hours away. Sportaorium's about as far. If she were at some music event, I'd say Sun Dome but a big guess. And wondering if she might have taken courses at that university or knew someone who did, or maybe someone working there, it's now University of Central Florida. The school underwent a name change and radical expansion in 1978, it used to be Florida Technological University. A huge research park was added adjacent to the campus, seeing it opened in '82, Central Florida Research Park, which housed all these different organizations & companies, including some tied in with military. The university had a huge focus on space exploration and Cape Canaveral is not far off. Maybe the Doe had some tie to the university, or maybe some musical event nearby, don't know, but seeing her remains were found like 10 mins from that research park.

She looks a little like Laronda Marie Bronson, missing November 1982 Portland Oregon 18yo at time of disappearance, 5'6" to 5'7", 110-120lbs, nickname is "Bird," I wonder if Laronda's musically inclined.:
