According to a heavily redacted probable cause statement obtained by HuffPost, the elder Labiner, 68, was found Saturday in a pool of blood in the stairwell of the building’s parking garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that he sustained four gunshot wounds, one in his upper chest, two in his lower body, and one more in his head.

Video surveillance from inside the parking garage shows a man riding a bicycle, removing a gun from a drawstring backpack, and confronting the victim in a “scuffle” before leaving the frame, authorities said.

Police tracked down Brandon Labiner the following day. He was barricaded in a building about three miles from the crime scene.

Brandon Labiner, a 34-year-old attorney, is facing a first-degree murder charge after a body was found in a Boca Raton office building where his father also worked as an attorney.

Paul Labiner sued his son on Sept. 20, 2022. Paul Labiner and his wife, Mindy Labiner, filed a complaint for damages against Brandon Labiner, his spouse and Fidelity Brokerage Service. The suit sought damages that exceed $300,000 exclusive of costs and attorney's fees.

According to the suit, Brandon Labiner and his spouse "participated in a scheme to steal and divert funds from the Trust for her own benefit and the benefit of Brandon."


The younger Labiner also had his law license suspended in an emergency court ruling on April 18. Brandon Labiner was accused of stealing $450,000 from his mother's trust fund. His father initiated the bar complaint.

The suspect, Brandon Labiner, barricaded himself within his nearby law office on the 900 block of N. Federal Highway. The SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded. Brandon Labiner eventually surrendered without incident. He is being held at the Palm Beach County jail without bail.

Wow. I have so many questions. I looked at Brandon’s Facebook page. He got married in May 2021 so he and his bride just celebrated two years. Is he like Alex Murdaugh, and spent way beyond his means?

And since he was a trustee, does he have any claim to moving that money to his own accounts?

I can’t believe that he even prepared fake bank statements to try and show that his dad had stolen money from him. I wonder how many years Brandon was a problem child. But then again, you wonder why was he put on the trust as a trustee in the first place?

From Brandon's FB, it looks like it was a rough 2023 even without the civil suit with his dad.

I DL'd all the docs from the civil case and saw his wife did a depo. I'd love to read the transcript. Maybe a news station will be able to get hold of it.
