Although the Boeing 737 plane is not completely submerged in the St. Johns River, the bottom portion, where the pets were positioned, is under water.

LaRocque said the pets include dogs and cats. The flight's manifest recorded a total of four pets on board, but she said it's possible more could have been boarded.

How sad. Or kitty flew from the US to Europe in cargo (only way allowed) a few years back. Such a stressful experience but she did great. I'm so sad for these lost pets... :(

The Boeing 737 had slid off the runway of the naval air station in Jacksonville, hit a seawall of loose rocks and splashed into the shallow waters of the St. Johns River. All 136 passengers and seven crew members would be rescued, 22 of them with non-life-threatening injuries...

A team of 16 investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board arrived in Jacksonville on Saturday to begin to figure out what went wrong, said Bruce Landsberg, the board’s vice chairman. By Saturday afternoon, investigators had recovered the flight data recorder, which was undamaged.

Poor furries, no choice or chance. I'm sure their families are mourning them.

I would be devastated if my pet was onboard.
