Accessories: separate from the body were found a syringe for patients suffering with diabetes mellitus, plastic container for medication without the cover and no medication present.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Barbara Kettell Rushton left her home on Old Forest Road in Vestavia Hills to play cards with friends. Her husband watched her drive away in her white 1980 Volkswagen Rabbit. A short while later her friends called to say she hadn't arrived. Her husband called the police and a search was launched. Neither she nor her car has ever been found.
Authorities interviewed family, friends, and coworkers and dug deep into her life. She had resigned her job. Coworkers told investigators they had seen her and her husband arguing the day before she disappeared. Her daughter told investigators that her mother wasn't behaving normally before she left for her card game - she had a blank stare and was upset and crying.
Over the next days and weeks, authorities did ground and aerial searches. They flagged her Social Security number, but it, along with her credit cards, has never again been used. About $4,000 in her bank account also went untouched.
Because she was a type I diabetic who didn't have her insulin when she left home, some think she might have wandered away in with diabetic amnesia. She was eventually declared dead.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Lucetta Starkie was reported missing from her Walnut Hill home on August 31, 1985 by a sibling who explained that Starkie had been missing since about the beginning of July of that same year.
Starkie had been living with her husband of more than 25 years in the Bay Springs community near Walnut Hill at the last time she was seen.
Starkie is still missing and presumed dead after extensive investigation and searching
