I am actually considering looking into this case - or really more like nervous/uncertain about how to proceed. I was hoping (as a newbie) yall might give me some guidance.

This person is a family member, but this has been a non-topic at my house as long as I can remember. I really don’t know much. However, I’ve done some preliminary digging, and what actually surprises me is how incredibly little info is available. INCREDIBLY little. I actually checked WebSleuths on my very first search attempt and probably got more info from here than from anywhere else. I do plan on engaging some other family members, but I’d like to have a little base knowledge first.

The PBSO won’t release any info to me as it’s an “ongoing case” (doesn’t really seem like it’s a priority as it wasn’t even released to NaMUS until 2023, 39 years after the fact). But what little info is available strikes me as curiously suspicious. When I called the SO records department after receiving an email denying the release anything, I was transferred by a very nice lady to “the main number,” where I got a voicemail that has never returned my call. If I call back, is it actually referred to as a “cold case unit?” Or am I going to sound like Karen Who Watches Too Much TV by asking to speak with one of their officers? :)

Another thing: if it is true that he was a potential state’s witness, will I get anywhere by calling FDLE? What about the Attorney General’s office? It just makes me wonder if all records requests are directed to the sheriff’s office when actually they should be checking the basement at the local AG’s office or FDLE records.

Sorry for the long post! It would be great if we could have some resolution (or a path) before much more of the family is gone. If anyone has any tips (general or Florida-specific), please shoot them my way! TIA!!!
