Timothy Smith death: Husband arrested months after man found dead in Marion County home, officials say

A Florida man has been arrested in the suspected murder of his husband, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

I'm so glad to see Tim get justice, or at least the beginning of it. I didn't see a motive mentioned in the article I read. Surely it wasn't merely for $330 in life insurance?

When discovered, Smith was undressed from the waist down and had a dark ligature mark around his neck and blunt force trauma to his face and genitals, the affidavit states, and he had suffered a fracture to his cervical spine during the attack. Police also say that a toxicology report revealed that he was dosed with 30 times the recommended amount of diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in Benadryl.

IMO, that headline is misleading. At the end of the story it states Tim's partner was abusive and Tim was in the process of leaving him.

So, IMO, yet another case of the murder of a domestic violence victim who had decided to leave.

How many times do we and others say, or think, or hear that?
Smith was in the process of separating from his partner.
It's good to hear there is a suspect -- he is in lots of trouble, but it won't bring Smith back.
