Found Deceased FL - Vanessa Cocly, 23, Taft, 31 March 2018 *Arrest*

Vanessa Jessica Cocly was last seen leaving the area of Cypress Street in Taft driving a 2017 Nissan Versa with a Florida license plate tag GJCK52 that has since been located.

Cocly was wearing a red and white striped dress, was carrying a black and brown bag, is 5-feet-2 inches tall and 220 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes.

Deputies said she did not show up at her new job that she was excited about, nor did she attend an Easter family dinner.

Her family told investigators that those actions are “highly uncharacteristic” of Cocly.

“They have a strong family bond and for them to not know (anything) about her, I don’t think she just vanished like that,” said neighbor Carol Quisquinay.

Quisquinay said she saw Cocly almost every day.

A detective spent much of the afternoon at the home and several deputies stopped in briefly along with a forensic photographer.

The body of Vanessa Jessica Cocly was discovered in a home at the Sand Lake Courtyard Condominiums near South Orange Blossom Trail and Sand Lake Road in Orlando.

Cocly's death has been ruled a homicide, but officials have not said how she was killed.

Deputies said they're searching for Christian Valentin Penchi, 32, who lives at the condo where Cocly's body was found. Deputies said Penchi, a person of interest in the case, was last seen driving a black 2013 Lexus, with the Florida tag 735-RQI.

Suspect in woman's slaying arrested in Puerto Rico on murder charge

Early Friday, Orange County investigators searching for a missing nursing student found her dead inside Christian Valentin Penchi’s condo on Orange Blossom Trail, authorities said.

On Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office said Penchi — described as the on-again, off-again boyfriend of the slain woman, 23-year-old Vanessa Cocly — had been arrested in Puerto Rico on a first-degree murder charge.

Penchi, 32, had previously been described as a “person of interest.”

Authorities have not said how Cocly died.

In addition to the murder charge, Penchi faces a grand theft charge in an unrelated case, Williamson said. Authorities did not reveal when Penchi traveled to Puerto Rico or how he was caught.
