a Vietnam vet went missing as a 28yo from OK in 1979 (a decade before this UID was found) and was hitchhiking to FL. Frequent patient at the Gainsville VA Hospital, FL. Of no fixed address but known to be in Jacksonville - quite some distance from our UID but if he was transient over the long-term he could have moved around. Matches on height (5'10") but not on scars (though the UID was decomp). Seems a bit of a long shot.

I apologize, @Melt71, but I have to disagree with you about "No really good matches...". I think John Barreto is a very good potential match! The fact that he was known to be in Miami, is a veteran, is within range on age and height and has the appendectomy scar makes him a very good candidate for comparison, imho. Did you or would you consider submitting John as a PM?
