William George Morris, 38, years old, took his 3-year-son for a jet ski ride Monday. Officials said Morris failed to return. Morris’ wife then called his phone, and the 3-year-old answered via FaceTime.

The boy was found on a small island on the Alafia just west of Interstate 75. A citizen saw the boy and stayed with him until deputies arrived.

Deputies searched the island and found the watercraft pulled up on the south side of the island. An adult-sized life jacket and Morris' wallet were found with the craft.

Yikes! The poor baby. I hope his father is found safe.

I'm finding it really odd that the ski jet was pulled up on the beach with the toddler, the phone, the wallet and the adult life vest with the only missing thing being the adult. Something doesn't feel right...

Was the adult wearing the vest when they headed out of the ski jet? Was the ski jet broken down or still operational? If operational why they go to the island? Was dad perhaps experiencing a medical event and felt it was safer for the child on the island and after reaching the island he collapsed and was pulled out by the current? Or is there something more sinister? Meeting someone on the island who caused harm to the father?

Sigh...will await release of more details.....

Very strange story

I get the feeling someone did something to the dad but didn't do harm to the baby because they had a little bit of conscience. I can't fathom a father, even if he's going to hurt himself or run away from life leaving their child in possible danger although we've seen it happen too many times here.
