Court hearing waived for Tavares couple accused of torturing 10-year-old to death

A couple who has been accused of torturing a 10-year-old to death in Tavares is expected to face new charges.

Kimberley Mills and Andre Walker – the boy’s mother and her boyfriend – are facing a slew of charges, including child neglect and tampering with evidence. They have been held at the Lake County jail since their arrest back in February.

His classmate said nothing seemed amiss in his home and it seemed like any normal loving homelife from the outside looking in. There will be a vigil for Xavier on Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m. in Wooten Park. Everyone is asked to wear blue (Xavier's favorite color).

Hospital staff told officers that the victim was "covered with bruises in various stages of healing, burn marks and other injuries," according to the post, which stated that the suspects had taken the victim to the hospital, but left after learning that law enforcement was on its way.

police found duct tape, a 6"ladder, a 10-pound weight which is allegedly used to restrain and inflict harm on the victim. The torture consisted of weights being dropped on the boy's exposed stomach, Xavier's younger brother described to LEOs that he and his sibling suffered "unspeakable torment"

Xavier's death may have at least saved his little brother from a similar fate - RIP little man. I'm so sorry this is the hand you were dealt.

Xavier’s parents divorced in 2019, and his father, Keniel Williams, lived in Connecticut while sharing joint custody with Mills. He frequently visited Florida to see his children. Xavier's surviving sibling has now lost both his mother and brother as a result of the case.

both indicted on five counts including first degree murder, first degree felony murder and aggravated child abuse.

Evidence GJ heard: killed X via child abuse. Boyfriend struck him with a dumbbell, causing great bodily harm (happened more than once over six months). Both defendants struck him with the dumbbell, flashlights and other objects.

Will be seeking the DP against both. [Good] State will prove defendant was previously convicted of a violent crime. Crime especially heinous. Victim was only 12. Familial abuse.

When did DCF get involved with this family, where they involved prior? Not aware of any DCF involvement before this death.

When you use the date December 2024 is that the date you know abuse happened or how do you come to that date? Evidence, statements etc got us to that date, because we have to give a date and that is a date where it seems a change occurred.

How is his brother doing? I can't comment on his brother.

very glad this couple was ultimately indicted and that the state intends to seek the DP for both. The mother (man do I hate to give her that title) was a RN. Meaning she was a mandated reporter and not uneducated. She not only failed to protect her children, she apparently was an active participant in the systematic abuse/torture of her own children.
