Did anyone catch the last part of the article? It was thought to be "an isolated incident". Imagine that, a sex offender getting caught the first time! (I'm being sarcastic.) It drives me crazy. The child goes through the abuse, it is furthered by the mom not believing her and now the media and LE is minimizing it as "an isolated incident"! He'll probably get a slap on the wrist and the family will be angry that she "made a mountain out of a mole hill". I hope child welfare looks very closely at the family.

Isolated incident my rear. The creep used the child being in pain and tricked her into letting him massage. He couldn't control his evil sick urge and didn't care that she was a child and a relative. I suppose the guy could have dementia or something, but I can't imagine someone with that suddenly becoming so tricky and manipulative sexually towards a child. I can believe that LE is doing nothing about it since the guy isn't already a RSO and they think he's just an old man. He still needs to be punished even if it means going into a mental hospital or nursing home.

I can kinda shed light on this.
I was abused by my uncle when I was a child. This piece of vomit abused me, my mother when she was a child, all of his children and most of the cousins. NO ONE said anything because everyone was ashamed. We are not talking about "typical" abuse but vile digusting things no one would talk about. He is truly evil.
I told my mom when I was little but she was so young herself and said "I don't know what to tell you". MY MOM SAID THAT! (She was 19 when I was 4 in 1979 and people in the rural south did not talk of things like sex abuse)
The abuse continued until I was 10 then I was out of his preferred age range.
Because he molested the older cousins, they in turn molested me (the girls) and it continued until I was 12.
No one talked about it! EVER!

When I turned 25, I was married with 2 kids and I WAS PISSED OFF!! How could anyone hurt kids?!?!
So, Hubby and I went to a reunion where I confronted every single one of them and it all came out in the open. If you can imagine 200 people sitting in a park and all of the females raising their hands that they were abused by "Uncle Glen".

Like I said before, the abuse stopped with me. My kids live a great life without "issues". A normal kid life.

This freak uncle lives alone in a run down house cut off from everyone. When I see him out I cannot help myself. I call him a pedophile and other names. I am too old for that but it makes me feel better.
A cousins husband beat the snot out of him a couple of years back and that made me happy too!

(Please do not feel sorry for me! I am really over it and I am not trying to have a pity party or get sympathy. I just want people to know where the idiot mothers come from)

Pixie, I'm proud of you for being able to publically confront your abuser. I wasn't able to do that. You may have saved more family members from him. I told my mother and she also didn't believe me because she couldn't believe her own brother would do such a thing! I confronted my uncle by letter, but he was a coward. Recently I accidentally stumbled across his grave. Had my father and daughter not been with me at the time, I would have stomped or tap danced on it.:furious::furious::furious:

I can. He didn't have dementia. I had an uncle just like him.:furious: Even my father when I eventually told him, said "Uncle Louie's an old man, too old to do anything". My father didn't realize he could still use his hands.:furious:

This may have been an isolated incident with THIS child, sure. But I'd bet it isn't his first rodeo.

I think what this girl did is courageous and should be publicized for other kids to take note. Sadly, it has to be something horrendous to create a positive reason for children to even have cell phones.

I personally like my husband's view on things. If anything EVER happens to our daughter, go after the person first (put very nicely), ask questions later!

Ask questions first. There's a dead, innocent man thanks to a false accusation invented for unknown reasons by the mother. False accusations do exist.

First, you find out the truth - talk to the person, get medical evidence, etc.
